<p>Over the past year of domaining, I&#8217;ve learned a lot as to &#8216;how to market domains to big corporations.&#8217;</p>
<p>The first thing is to present yourself as a professional. A professional who has a viable business firm along with important business assets&#8230;.And not as a overly anxious entrepreneur, with less than desirable business skills.</p>
<p>So, the question becomes: In what way can you present yourself as a professional domain investor?</p>
<p>Well, one of the first things to do is to setup a professional email presentation that outlines obvious benefits to the prospective client.</p>
<p><strong>The wrong way to send email correspondence</strong></p>
<p>When I first began to contacting end users by email, I used a simple rich text format that only included a scanty description of my featured domain name along with my email contact.</p>
<p>Of course, this format didn&#8217;t work so great when contacting companies, although I did have a few fellow domainers to respond to my emails.</p>
<p>And then I thought, if someone sent me a poorly formatted email, advertising the product and or service, would I be impressed enough even to open their email?&#8230;. Let alone send a response?&#8230;</p>
<p>Needless to say, I eventually realized that a better approach was necessary and decided to create a customized html email template that reflected the same look and feel of my website.</p>
<p>True to to its form, this email format yielded better results. But, I then found out that just as important as it is to initiate sales contact, the follow-up process is even more important.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Winging the follow-up</strong></span></p>
<p>Because I never had a serious inquiry, I didn&#8217;t know how to respond or even to respond at all. This is were lacking experience really hurt my prospects of &#8216;cultivating contact &amp; closing the deal&#8217;. As a result, I eventually forfeited any chance of even coming close to a sale close.</p>
<p>However, I soon learned that sending a professional follow-up letter within 48-72 hours of initial contact was considered professional edicate.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Still testing the waters</span></strong></p>
<p>At this point, I&#8217;m still testing the waters, but now better understand when to followup with a company and when not to respond to less serious buyers. But most of all, I finally figured out a more effective approach to contacting potential end users.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll update you with results on this strategy a little later on this summer.</p>
